Vietnam Wins 10 ASOCIO Digital and AI Awards as FPT Takes Three
Vietnamese organisations took home 10 awards at the ASOCIO Digital & AI Awards 2026, announced in Jakarta on the evening of October 6, Thanh Niên reported. Eight Vietnamese winners were recognised, and FPT Group alone collected three of the prizes.
This was the first year the Asian-Oceanian Computing Industry Organization included a dedicated set of AI awards in its official judging, alongside its traditional digital categories. The Vietnam Software and IT Services Association (VINASA) put forward the Vietnamese nominations.
The winners span government, education and industry. The Ministry of Justice received the Digital Government award, the University of Engineering and Technology at Vietnam National University, Hanoi, was honoured for Talent Development, and VTI Corporation was recognised in global technology services. In the AI categories, VNPT’s Information Security Center won for AI in Cybersecurity, MISA for AI for Public Good, Viettel Solutions for AI in Education and Smartlog for AI in Manufacturing and Supply Chain. FPT won AI in Healthcare, AI in Financial Services, and AI in Workforce and Future Skills.
What it means in practice
Awards are not market share, but the list shows where Vietnamese AI is being put to work: public administration, security operations, schools, hospitals, banks and logistics. VINASA chairman Nguyen Van Khoa said the strong showing in the first year with dedicated AI categories shows Vietnam’s technology capabilities shifting from outsourcing toward building platforms and owning solutions, giving domestic firms a deeper role in the international digital value chain.
Several winners have been busy at home. FPT recently set out an AI-first roadmap for finance through 2030, Viettel has unveiled three AI platforms for banks, and VNPT has expanded its edge AI pact with Qualcomm.
The recognition comes as the sector grows quickly. Thanh Niên reported that digital technology industry revenue in the first nine months of 2026 rose 32.1% year on year, with hardware and electronics exports up 34.7%, and cited the e-Conomy SEA report finding that 44% of Vietnamese users interact with AI tools every day. What to watch: whether the award-winning deployments win contracts elsewhere in ASEAN, and how Vietnamese entries fare as the AI categories mature.
